The Best Places To Eat:

During my time as a Car Service Driver, I have discovered through talking with the Tourist (passengers) the best restaurants for your dining experiences.  I have not personally eaten at all the restaurants I will be recommending; however, these are the ones that the passengers have shared with me as being superior in many ways.  If I have personally eaten at any of the ones I mention, I will share my experience as well.  Of course, this is not to  infer that an establishment not mentioned is of poor quality in any way.  The absence of mention simply means that I have no knowledge of the restaurant in general.  In addition, if I know a restaurant is not up to excellent standards, I will not mention it either.  My goal is to uplift the high quality restaurants without being negative in any way.  I hope this will take some of the guess work of choosing a place to dine and make your stay in Asheville greater than expected.  If you have eaten at any of the restaurants mentioned or even ones not mention, please let us know your dining experience by using the contact form below.  Thanks.

Every passenger I picked up (whom had eaten there) said the food was excellent and the wine was reasonably priced.  They serve a menu that is partly vegetarian and the other part is for the meat lovers.  By the way, at Early Girl, meat is called "a protein selection".  So please, when ordering meat refer to it as such.  Would I recommend this restaurant?  Based on passenger's response, I would give it 5 stars for Quality, Portions, Price, Atmosphere, and creativity.  Give them a try.  You won't be disappointed.

Chelsea's & the Village Tea Room
Located: 6 Boston Way (Biltmore Village by Biltmore Estate Entrance) Asheville, NC
Telephone: 828-274-0701

I heard this place was great for a Lady's Day of pampering, service and just plain enjoyment.  Have some wonderful tea and enjoy pastries, and good food.  This is not the place to bring your "meat and potatoes" construction worker husband but it is a place of refinement and a place to spoil yourself.  Give them a try!

Curras Dom
Located: 72 Weaverville Road, Asheville, NC
Telephone: 828-253-2111

Don't judge a book by it's cover.  Once a Subway shop, Curras has converted this establishment into a great Mexican Restaurant.  From the outside it doesn't appear to be anything fancy; however, don't let that fool you!  Oh! Did I say, Mexican food?  I've heard talk about walnut sauces, Chicken Mole crepes and grilled lamb with pistachio mole and much more!  As a Car Service, I have delivered Doctors and Lawyers to this restaurant whom are regular clients.  Don't miss this one.  Tell them Tom Grandy sent you.

Chef in Motion
57 Victoria Road, Asheville, NC
Telephone: 828-350-8999

Asheville’s greatest secret, Chef in Motion is a house converted into a restaurant.  I have driven by it many times and never noticed the establishment at 57 Victoria Road (by the hospital).  One day, I picked up an attorney who came to Asheville on a legal matter.  He arranged a pick up latter that afternoon at Chef in Motion.  My first reaction was, “Chef in Motion… where is that?”  That’s when I first learned of Asheville’s greatest secret.  Although small, Chef Mo and his wife Brenda offer that personal touch that only a small restaurant could offer.  When I arrived to pick up the attorney and take him to the airport, I found him sitting at a front porch table enjoying a wonderful lunch.  He stated that “the food and people are fantastic there and the prices are unbelievably inexpensive.”  I drove by there one morning (before they opened) and looked at the menu.  The highest lunch meal was $7.00 and everything looked wonderfully creative.  Dinner was by appointment only.  This place looks like a winner!  Give them a try.  That’s “Chef in Motion” at 57 Victoria Road, Asheville, NC.

Located: 70 N Lexington Ave., Asheville,NC
Telephone: 828-225-8880
I've been very curious about this restaurant.  I love good Indian food.  I had a Indian gentleman in the Cab who was here for a business meeting and he asked about an Indian restaurant.  I told him about Mela and he said he would visit the place.  Upon taking him back to the Airport, I asked him about Mela's place and he said, "it was the best."  Now Indians know good Indian food, spices and curries and this gentleman raved about the restaurant.  Based on that praise, I think this place is a must if you like Indian food.  So, Indian food lovers, "arise" and get to Mela ASAP.  Let me know what you think.  Tell them Tom Grandy sent you.   I might add, I heard other good things about this place.
